Douglas Eugene YOUNG of Decatur, Iowa, was born in Leon, Iowa, March 13, 1952, and died Feb. 14, 1999, at Fontana, CA, at age 46. He was the son of Arline (GREEN) YOUNG, Leon, Iowa, and Fredrick Maurice YOUNG, Decatur, Iowa.

Doug spent most of his life living in Decatur County. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972. Upon his return, he started driving semis and continued until his death. When he wasn’t on the road, he spent his time with wife Sharon, his children, and hanging out with his buds. All will miss his friendliness and great sense of humor.

In 1972 he was married to Jean FELLMAN and into this union four children were born: Steven, Joshua, Sarah, and Mary. Daughter Sarah preceded her father in death.

Doug married Sharon (COMBS) HINDS in 1996. They made their home in Decatur City where he was employed by James Toney Trucking.

He is survived by his widow, Sharon YOUNG, and step-daughter, Carrie HINDS, of their home in Decatur; sons: Steven YOUNG and wife Janelle, Greenfield, Iowa, and Joshua YOUNG, Leon; daughter Mary YOUNG, Winterset, Iowa; step-children: Chris TOOMBS, Aiea, Hawaii; Rochelle TOOMBS, Clarinda, Iowa; mother, Arline YOUNG, Leon; father, Fredrick [Maurice] YOUNG, Decatur; sisters: Cindy KAUZLARICH and husband Mike, Le Mars, Iowa; Connie WHITE and husband Ron, Leon; and Carol YOUNG, Leon; brother Fred YOUNG and wife Connie, Leon; grandchildren; other relatives and numerous good friends.
