OBITUARY - LEWIS JOHNSON.

LEWIS JOHNSON was born in Pike County, Illinois, August 22, l838, and

died at his home in High Point Township, Decatur County, Iowa, November

23, l907, aged 69 years, 3 months and l day. He was the son of LEWIS

and BARBARA JOHNSON, who several years ago preceded him to the spirit

world. He came to Decatur County, Iowa, in l852, where he has since

resided.

He was married February 24, l867, to SARAH ANN MILLER, daughter of JOHN

and SOPHIA MILLER. To this union were born two children, HANNAH E.,

wife of JOHN KONKLIN, and MARY E., wife of LEWIS SEARS. Their mother

died December l6, l872, leaving the husband with his two little children

to mourn her early departure. On March l5, l876, he was married to MARY

E. CARR, daughter of WM. and NANCY CARR, of Livingston County,

Missouri. To this union was born one child, LILLIE A., wife of ROSS

FULTON. In l862, he enlisted in Company H, Fifth Kansas Infantry, where

he served for one year, being honorably discharged on account of

disability. He always lived an honest upright life, and his motto was

to always do to others as he wished to be done by. He was a good

neighbor, kind father and affectionate husband, and ever had a kind word

for all.

"A dear one is from us taken,

A voice we loved is stilled,

A place is vacant in our home,

That never can be filled."

Funeral service conducted by Elder L.M. Kob, of Garden Grove. Interment

in High Point Cemetery.
