DR. D. FAY JACKSON, a young Garden Grove Physician, died last evening at
l0 o'clock from an overdose of morphine. The deceased had contracted
the morphine habit and had become a perfect slave to the drug. It is
thought that the drug was taken with suicidal intent.
Deceased leaves a young wife and child, the latter a boy two years old.
DR. JACKSON graduated from the Iowa State University but a few years ago
and located at Woodland, forming a partnership with DR. FLEMING,
afterwards moving to Garden Grove. His parents are highly respected
people residing at Clarinda, and his brother, W.M. Jackson, County
Attorney of Taylor County.
MRS. JACKSON resided formerly at Iowa City, making her husband's
acquaintance and their marriage taking place while he was attending the
University.
DR. WAIGHT of this city, who is an old friend of the JACKSON family, and
under whom the deceased obtained his first knowledge of medicine, was
telephoned for at once after the discovery of the taking of the fatal
dose. He left at once for Garden Grove, but had only been gone a few
minutes when the announcement of the death came.
