NEOTHA GRACE BAGLEY, daughter of Wm. Francis Griffin and Mary Lusk Griffin, was born in Mercer Co. May 31, 1911 and passed away July 24, 1989 at the age of 78. She was married to Everett M. Bagley, Jr. April 24,1936 and to this union was born four children.

Neotha and her husband lived and farmed in the Bethel area until Mr. Bagley's death in 1965. She then moved to Princeton where she lived until her retirement in 1977. At that time she moved to Independence to be near her children.

Neotha was a country school teacher before her marriage, and was active with her children in church and 4-H activities. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed several years as an assistant to the "Special Reading" teacher at Princeton School. Later she worked at the Mercer County Nursing Home.

Throughout her life she has devoted a great deal of time, caring for the elderly among her family and friends, she was patient and kind; no task was too great if she could add to the comfort of another. Neotha always enjoyed sewing, reading, knitting and crocheting. During her years in Independence she joined a quilting group that she enjoyed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, her husband Everett Bagley, Jr. and their infant daughter Mary Francis.

She is survived by her children Wilbur Bagley, Independence, Martha Billups, Kansas City, Roger Bagley, Jamesport, eight grandchildren, Wesley, Sheryl, Clinton, Jon, Cindy, Laura, Leonard and Heather; and a grand son-in-law, Jacques. She is also survived by daughters-in-law Phyllis and Judy, son-in-law, Norman, sister Thelma Burrows, Littleton, Colorado, Willa Bryant, Leon, Iowa, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bethel Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Thursday, under the direction of the Rev. Geneva Parsons and the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Home.

[Interment was made at Hamilton Cemetery, Pleasanton, Iowa.]
