John R. Colyer was born in Billings, Montana, February 27, 1916, and raised near Pleasanton, Iowa, died November 9, 1997 in Lowry City, Missouri. His funeral was held Wednesday, November 12 at the Sheldon Goodrich Chapel, Osceola, Missouri. He was buried at Lowry City Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by one brother Alden Colyer and two sisters: Opal Gorden and Dorcas Clark.

He is survived by his wife Lottie; and four sons from a previous marriage, Ed, Clayton, Paul and Bill Colyer.
