PEARLE O. WILSON

UTE, Iowa - Pearle Olive [Baker] Wilson, 94, of Ute died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilson was born Nov. 17, 1905, in Grand River, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Hannah (Street) Baker. She was raised and received her initial education in Grand River.

She attended Cedar Falls Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught school in Leon, Iowa, for two years and in Dunlap, Iowa, for one year.

She married Joseph L. Wilson on Oct. 6, 1928, in Denison, Iowa. The couple owned and operated the Red and White Grocery Store in Ute for 35 years. They also owned the Dairy Treat in Denison in the 1950s, which they operated there until moving to Ute where they operated it from 1962 to 1965. He died Aug. 20, 1983.

She was a member of the Ute United Methodist Church and Women's Club. She helped run the library in Ute for several years.

Surviviors include a son and his wife, Dick and Carol of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter and her husband, Sherry and Tom Lindeman of Monroe, Neb.; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
