Thursday, November 06, 1913, Page 1Miranda (Wanscott) Konklin was born at Sweet Home, Mo., Nov. 22nd, 1835. She moved with her parents to Woodland township, Decatur county, Iowa, when she was a little girl. She was married to Thomas Konklin on May 5th, 1859.
To this union seven children were born, three sons and four daughters, all living, namely: Clarence, Hugo, S.D.; James T., Red Rock, Oklahoma; Mrs. Phoebe Cook, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Della Hughes, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Sarah McDowell, Garden Grove; and Mary of Garden Grove Edward, Caloosa, Oklahoma. All were present except Clarence and Edward. Her children were all born and reared on the home farm, a mile south and a mile east of High Point. After her husband died on Nov. 5th, 1896, Mrs. Konklin remained three years on the farm. Then she moved to Garden Grove in 1899 where she has lived ever since.
She united with the Dunkard, or Brethren chuch shortly after her marriage. About 20 years ago she united with the High Point church. She was a great sufferer in her later life, but she bore her suffering with patient fortitude. She was much loved and highly respected by a host of friends. She died Oct. 26th, 1913.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. G. Duling, pastor of the Garden Grove M.E. church, from the home at 10 o'clock Wednesday. Interment was at the Woodland [Lentz] Cemetery.
