Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Joe Goldner, 57, of Lenox, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mt. Ayr from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri. Burial will be at the Hanson Eaton Cemetery in Crawford Co., Mo.

Local visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highways #34 and #25 in Creston, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the Hanson Eaton Cemetery. Online condolences may be given under the obituary category at www.powersfh.com

Joe A. Goldner, son of Pearl Mary Wuster and Glen Goldner was born October 7, 1952 in Creston, Iowa. He was educated in Shannon City and graduated from East Union High School in Afton in 1970. He began to attend North West Missouri State University from 1970 to 1972. He began serving in the United States Air Force in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1976. He went on to graduate from Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, Mo. in 1976. He began teaching at Maryville Vocational-Tech School in Maryville, Mo.

Joe taught industrial technology at, Macks Creek R-5 School in Macks Creek. On July 30, 1988, Joe married Shirley Elaine (Bell) in Macks Creek, Missouri. Joe continued to teach at Murray Community School. Presently, Joe taught for Morman Trail Community School in Garden Grove, Iowa and at Central Decatur Community School in Leon. Joe loved to work on cars. He loved to build excitement and adventure into different car projects with his students.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Goldner of Lenox, his son, Eric Milton of Lenox, his daughter, Erin Milton of Lenox, his brother, Marv (wife Kathy) Goldner of St. Louis, Mo., his step-mother, Roberta Goldner of Creston; his step-sister, Peggy Van Pelt of Creston, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a brother H.D. (wife Shirley) Goldner, a sister Evelyn (husband Larry) Leffler and infant brother Ervin Goldner.
