Miss Belle Richards was born near Warren, Illinois, May 3, 1867. She moved to Decatur county, Iowa, near Davis City, with her parents in 1869, in which community she has spent the greater part of her life. She was married to Thomas J. Ewing January 9, 1886, and to this union were born four children: Mrs. Roy Burnham, of Lamoni, Mrs. Ed Thompson, of Albany, Mo., Fred Ewing, of Lamoni, and Roy Ewing, who preceded her to the heavenly home May 2, 1902.

Mrs. Ewing was baptized into the Christian church at Bethany, Mo., in 1905, and of this church she was a member at the time of her death. She was an esteemed member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Thompson, at Albany, Mo., April 25, 1913, aged 45 years, eleven months and 22 days. She leaves to mourn her death a husband, two daughters, one son, six grandchildren, four sisters and one brother, besides a large circle of friends. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Ewing was buried in the [old] cemetery at Davis City, Iowa, beside her son Roy.
