Jacob Dobson was born in Butler county, Pa., Mary 14, 1823, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. G. Brown, of Grand River, April 12, 1913, aged 89 years, 10 months and 28 days.

He was married to Phoebe McClintock in 1848, she having passed from this earth March 16, 1887. To this union were born eight children: W. M., Catherine, Francis, Sarah, George, John, Charles A., and Caroline, all living except for Charles, who passed away Nov. 14, 1886.

Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, besides a host of friends, are left to mourn his loss. His children were all present at the time of his death except W. M., of South Dakota, and Sarah Miller, of Wyoming.

He came to Iowa in 1851 and settled in Clinton county, Iowa, and moved to Decatur county in 1860, residing here ever since.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 at the Grand River M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Hawk and Interment made at the Funktown [a.k.a. Oak Hill] cemetery.
