The Grim Reaper Gathered in Many Decatur County Citizens
During Closing Days of the Old Year.

Richard D. Owens.

Richard D. Owens, son of Thomas and Ellen Owens, was born in Decatur county, Iowa, March 3, 1867, and died at Mercy hospital at Des Moines, Iowa, Dec. 21, 1918, at the age of 51 years, 9 months and 18 days.

In 1901 he was married at Mercer, Mo., to Eliza Forsythe. To this union was born six children: Thomas, Tony, Ellen, Willia, Raymond and Velma, who live to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He also leaves two brothers, John, of Ringgold county, and T. E., who lives at the old home with his sister, Jose, also Mrs. Wm. Mulcahey, of Chicago, Mrs. Robert Malone, of Lincoln,Neb.; Mrs. Carry A. Wilson, of Des Moines; and Mrs. J. C. Durham, of Mercer, Mo., besides a host of freinds and other relatives to mourn his early death.

He was buried on Tuesday, Dec. 24th, at the Catholic church at Woodland [Saint Marys Cemetery, Woodland Township, Decatur County, Iowa.]
