Katharina K. Larsen, 81, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born November 30th, 1931 in Lampertheim, Germany to Karl and Anna Marie Knappe. She was the 6th of 11 children. She met her husband, Rollo Larsen, while he was there. They married July 5th, 1952 in Lampertheim, Germany.

At the end of July 1952, Rollo moved home to Farmingdale, SD and Katharina followed soon after.

They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past July. She is known for her overwhelming generosity, kindness and her willingness to put others before herself. She was fluent in both German and English. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She always had games and crayons to entertain the grand kids.

Grateful for sharing her life are husband, Rollo, Farmingdale, SD; one son, Carl, (Barb), Farmingdale, SD; 8 Grandchildren: Tim Larsen (Rose), Rapid City, SD; Dustin Larsen, Farmingdale, SD; Kara Larsen, Sioux Falls, SD; Jerry Larsen, Phoenix, AZ; Janara (Terry) Froseth, Glendale, AZ; Kalina Sommerstead, Laveen, AZ; Curtis Larsen, Irvine, CA; and Travis Larsen, Irvine, CA; 13 Great grandchildren: Autumn, Ireland, Jamie, Kiyanna, Katie, James, Alex, Dillon, Hope, Justice, Kilan, Kadrian, and Kahlea. 4 sisters: Elfrieda Randall, Winterport, MN; Julianna Rash, Marina, CA; Anita Dietzel, Germany; Ann Marie Gorlach, Germany; and 3 brothers: Rudlof Knappe, Albert Knappe, and Hanz Knappe, all of Germany.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, one son, Michael, and her brothers Paul Knappe, Karl Knappe, and Helmut Knappe.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Larsen Family Cemetery in Farmingdale, SD.
