Larry R. Baker, of White Lake, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at his home. He was 73 years old. He was born on Dec. 22, 1942, in Brownwood, Texas, a son of the late Richard and Bette (Boggs) Baker.

Larry met Edwina “Winnie” Luthe, the love of his life, at age 12, and they married on June 12, 1961, at Des Moines, Iowa. She survives.

He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Drake University, both in Des Moines. He continued his education at Michigan State University. Larry followed his grandfather and father into the grocery business and owned several stores, having retired in 2002.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, woodworking, antiquing and whitewater canoeing. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and had a place in his heart for all the animals his wife brought home.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, survivors include three children, Lena Baker, Rob (Heather) Baker and Dan (Lisa) Baker, all of the Langlade area; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katie (Ron) Bult, of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Baker; a great-grandson, Colin Cormican; a nephew, Tom Lenzner; and his mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Henry Luthe.

A private gathering will be held in the spring.

Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo is assisting the family with arrangements.
