Mrs. James H. Vanhorn

Laura Ann Husted, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Husted, was born in Greene County, Illinois, April 22, 1832, and passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. B. Creal, in Decatur City, May 17, 1917, aged 85 years and 25 days.

She was converted when but a child and was a member of the Church of God, and lived a consistent Christian life until her death. Feb. 29, 1852, she was united in marriage to James H. VanHorn in Muscatine county, Iowa. To this union were born seven children, of which three are living. Ira S., of Omaha, Neb., Flora B., of Decatur City, and Asa D., of Council Bluffs, Iowa. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Martha Leonard, of Perry, Iowa, Mrs. Altha Stiles, of Woodward, Iowa, Mrs. Lavisa Reed, of Keokuk, Iowa, and Mrs. Effie Greenlie, of Kamoni, Neb.

The funeral services were held from the home in Decatur City on Friday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. F. H. Perkins, pastor of the Decatur M. E. church, and the remains tenderly laid to rest beside her companion in the Decatur cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
