Edward "Ed" McGahuey
October 18, 1857 ~ April 24, 1931

Edward "Ed" McGahuey was born on October 18, 1857 in Nodaway Co., Missouri and died on April 24, 1931 in Decatur Co., Iowa. He was the son of William and Maria McGahuey. He moved to Iowa with his parents when he was four years old and settled in Decatur county Iowa where he spent the remainder of his life. He united in marriage to Mary Smith on Oct 31, 1880, Decatur County, and to this union twelve children were born. Edward was a farmer.

He leaves to mourn his departure his loving wife, three daughters, Mrs. Earl Wise, Mrs. Ray Thompson of Decatur and Mrs. L. L. Payton of Lamoni, six sons, George, Bert, and Golden of Leon, Oliver of Lamoni, Samuel of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Raymond of Decatur City. Calvin E, Jesse and an infant preceded him in death. He also leaves two brothers, Calvin of Levenworth, Washington, and Sant of Kellerton, Iowa and one sister, Leona Evans of Arkansas, besided 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and firends.

All of his family were at his bedsides when he passed away except one son, Samuel, who was unable to come.

Funeral services were held at Decatur Methodist church, conducted by Geo. R. Lamb of Leon, interment being made in the Decatur cemetery.
