MUSCATINE, IA - Robert D. Havens, 75, of 221 Cook St., died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Muscatine Care Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Chaplain Mike Trail of the Sterling House will officiate. Pallbearers will be Andy Havens, Ben Bohling, Brett Bohling, Jason White and Doug Bird. Honorary Bearers will be Mark Bird, Kenneth McNeil, Keith McNeil, Ray Mullikin, Chuck Hertel, Jack Thomas and Chet Scholte. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a Mason Service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Foundation.

Mr. Havens was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Decatur City, the son of Walter and Ethel Coffin Havens. He married Phyllis Jean Hull on Nov. 27, 1947, in Burlington. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy in the South Pacific as a Petty Officer First Class.

He was a member of the Iowa Lodge # 2 AF amp; AM; and the Professional Engineer Association of Iowa. He was an Electrical Engineer at GPC for 20 years retiring in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Hull Havens of Muscatine; two sons, Scott Havens and his wife, Theresa, of Norwalk, and Tim Havens of Muscatine; three daughters, Barbara Bohling and her husband, Jeff, of Mexico, Missouri, Jane Harpole and her husband, Dan, of Westville, Indiana, and Robin J. White and her husband, Doug, of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, Andy Havens, Ben Bohling, Brett Bohling, Sarah Havens, Holly McDaniel, Jason White, Molly White and Blake Harpole; a niece, Linda Wood Bird of Wichita, Kansas; a cousin, Ruth Scott of Leon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant twin son, John Robert Havens; and one sister, Jean Wood.
