WILLIAM HENRY MILLS was born near Canton,
Illinois, July 23, l843;
passed away at his home at 5:l0 o'clock
Monday evening, June l4,
l9l5, after a lingering illness of six
months.

He came with his parents, brothers and
sisters to Pleasanton, Iowa,
September, l853, where he lived until
answering his country's call by
enlisting in Co. H. 5th Kansas Cavalry,
November l4, l86l; was honorably
discharged at Leavenworth, Kansas, December
8, l864, returning to
Decatur County where he was married to LOVISA
ELLEN BLAKE, October 29,
l865. Their entire married life was spent on
their farm in Eden
Township. To this union twelve children were
born, two having preceded
their parents to the great beyond, a son in
childhood, the eldest
daughter in early womanhood. Those left to
mourn the departure of a
kind, loving father are: MISSES MYRGIE and
HENRIETTA MILLS, CHARLIE,
RALPH and CLIFTON, who reside in this county,
MRS. ZELIA DAVIS, of
Marble, Washington, and OSCAR, of Wray,
Colorado, also eight
grandchildren and a sister, MRS. MARY A.
HOLDEN, were with him in his
last sickness. MRS. TILDA MCKEE, of Anaheim,
California; FRANK, of
Hunters, Washington, and ROLLA, of Tacoma,
were unable to be present.

Funeral services were conducted at his home
Wednesday at l0:30 a.m.,
June l6, l9l5, by Wm. J. Campbell, Evangelist
of the Church of Christ,
of which the deceased was a member. The text
was taken from the
eleventh chapter of John. He was followed to
his last resting place by
a large concourse of neighbors, friends and
comrades of the Leon G.A.R.
Post who took charge at the Leon Cemetery and
interred the body by the
side of the wife who departed this life a
year and a half ago.
