Thursday, December 28, 2017Ronny Dale Greenhalgh, age 56, of Decatur City, Iowa, the son of James Arthur and Glenda Kay (Dunkeson) Greenhalgh, was born September 9, 1961, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. He died at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on December 23, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Ronny lived his whole life in Decatur County. He graduated from Central Decatur High School in 1979. Throughout his life he worked doing siding and auto mechanics. He was known for his ability and knowledge of weapons, fixing small engines, restoring antique furniture, and spending time with family and friends. He loved to tease people.
Ronny was united in marriage to Rebecca Gail McCollough on July 25, 1981. To this union one daughter, Shondell Kay, was born.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Greenhalgh in 2007; his grandparents, Bernard and Mildred (York) Dunkeson in 1997; Arthur Vane Greenhalgh in 1971; and Ethel (Beers) Greenhalgh in 1961.
Survivors include his loving wife, Becky of Decatur; daughter, Shondell Greenhalgh of Osceola, Iowa; grandchildren, Teyona and Bladden Greenhalgh of Decatur; mother, Glenda Greenhalgh of Decatur; brothers, Danny and Karen Greenhalgh of Stockton, Iowa and Kenny and Lisa Greenhalgh of Decatur; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; as well as a host of devoted relatives and close friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, with Pastor Dale Short officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Iowa, at a later date.
