Doris Marie Eastin, age 93, of Waukee, Iowa, the daughter of Henry Lewis and Myrtle May (Jennings) Ross, was born May 26, 1924, in Garden Grove, Iowa. She left this life at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa on Monday, October 2, 2017.

Doris grew up in Garden Grove and attended school there. She enjoyed singing in the choir and taught Sunday school at the Garden Grove United Methodist Church.

In September of 1941, she married Earl Edmond Eastin. While Earl was away at war, Doris worked in a cracker factory making military rations. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa where they were blessed with daughter, Linda, and son, Terry. For the rest of her life, Doris was a wife, mother, and homemaker for her family.

In her free time, Doris enjoyed sewing, traveling, and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Earl Eastin; an infant son; sister, Gladys Ross; and brothers, Orlo Ross and Howard Ross.

Survivors include her children, Linda and Tom Knipp of Omaha, Nebraska and Terry and Patty Eastin of Clive, Iowa; five grandchildren, Elisa Knipp, Tonalee Knipp Trask and husband, Rick, Stacey Eastin King and husband, Mark, Brett Eastin, and Lindsay Eastin Klein and husband, Jeff; nine great grandchildren, Michaela, Travis, Thomas, John, Caroline, Lane, Ava, Noah, and Reid; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, with Pastor Rick Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.
