Emeline, daughter of Samuel and Hannah Goodman, was born near Crown, Iowa, August 21, 1860, and died at her home in Jasper, Mo., August 2, 1909, being 48 years, 11 months and 11 days old.

Her early life was spent in Decatur County. On October 27, 1889, she was united in marriage to J.B. Schott. For a short time after their marriage, they resided in Nebraska but for the last 17 years, they had lived at Jasper, Mo. Her last illness was of long duration. Everything possible was done for her but without avail. The summons came and the diseased body found rest.

She was a true friend, a kind neighbor, a devoted wife and a mother to her husband's motherless children. She leaves to mourn her departure a husband and one step-child, the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Susannah Zeika, of Leslie; Mrs. P. McVey, and Aaron Goodman, of Leon; Mrs. Christina Barrett, of Jefferson, Iowa; Simon Goodman, of Leon; Mrs. Mary Smith; Mrs. Martha Bartlett, and Abraham Goodman (triplets), of Garden Grove; John Goodman, of Leon; Sidney Ann Goodman, deceased, this being the second death in their large family.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Jasper, Mo., on Monday afternoon, the body was then brought to Leon and taken to the Franklin Church, where Rev. Lloyd, Pastor of the Methodist Church, preached the funeral, interment being in the Franklin Cemetery. A large company of relatives and friends sorrow with the husband over the early departure of this good woman.
