George W. LaFollette was born January 14, 1843, in Pulaski County, Missouri; Died at his residence in Leon, Iowa, August 23, 1924; aged 81 years, 7 months and 9 days. He has been a resident of Leon for more than 44 years and is widely known throughout the county and state. He was a Civil War Veteran and a member of the Masonic Fraternity.

He leaves to mourn his departure, Mrs. Millie LaFollette and three children, two daughters and a son: Mrs. Frank P. Gentry, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Edward A. Pace, Leon, Iowa; Henry H. LaFollette, Fort Madison, Iowa. A large circle of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Weaklend of the Christian Church. Interment in Leon Cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion.
