Obituary ~ Nona "Irene" (Shackleton) Webb
February 05, 1937 ~ December 05, 2016Nona Irene Webb, age 79, of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer Glade and Mable Inez (Johnson) Shackleton, was born February 5, 1937, in Harrison County, Missouri. She died Monday, December 5, 2016, at Westview Care Center in Leon, Iowa.
Irene graduated from Eagleville High School in Eagleville, Missouri. In September of 1954, she married Lawrence Edward “Jack” Webb. They were blessed with six children, Mike, Rick, Lonnie, Reta, Peggy, and Lorie. The family moved often due to Jack working as a hired farm hand. Irene was a wife, mother, and homemaker for her family. Irene and Jack have lived in the Leon, Iowa area for the past several years.
After all the kids were grown, Irene worked at the Decatur County Hospital as a certified nurse’s aide for several years. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and sewing. She attended Calvary Baptist Church when able.
Preceding her in death were her parents; granddaughter, Mashara Aschan; and brothers, Clyde and Oradale Shackleton. Survivors include her husband, Jack Webb of Leon, Iowa; children, Mike Webb of Leon, Rick Webb of Leon, Lonnie and Lori Webb of Olathe, Kansas, Reta Aschan of Leon, Peggy and Garry Davison of Russell, Iowa, and Lorie Webb of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Shane, Joe, Cody, Jesse, Ashley, Bobbie, William, Shawn, Raquel, Sara, and Tony; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Eugene Shackleton and wife, Gwen of Fairlake, Iowa; sister-in-law, Ellie Shackleton of Mason City, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016, with Rev. Max Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
