Wayne was born December 3, 1925, in Leon, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Maude Hill. On February 11, 1945, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Mary Richman in Leon. She died March 12, 1991. He then married Virginia Ruth Van Syoc April 7, 1992 in Waterloo. He was employed at John Deere as a truck driver, retiring in July of 1990.

Wayne died Sunday, September 21, 2003, at his home in Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Ruth of Cedar Falls, children, Rod (Susie) Baker of Parkersburg, Linda (Francis) Juhl of Cedar Falls, Steve (Anita) Baker of Sterling, VA and Michelle (Jim) Quistorff of Janesville; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grand-children; step-children, David (Peggy) Van Syoc of Clear Lake, Dan (Terry) Van Syoc of Cibilo, TX, Tom (Leslie) Van Syoc of Pella, Becky (Dan) Corbin and Barbara (Gary) Woods, all of Cedar Falls; fourteen step-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; sisters, Rowena Petty of Isle, MN, Sarah Lou Argabright of Tulsa, OK and Shirley Bailey of Des Moines and brother, Joe Baker of Davis City.

Richardson Funeral Service of Cedar Falls, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
