Obituary ~ Robert Eugene "Bob" Howell
July 09, 1925 - March 27, 2014Robert Eugene Howell, age 88 of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho died March 27, 2014 at Emeritus Assisted Living, 205 E. Anton, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was born July 9, 1925 in Leon, Iowa to Robert and Ruth Howell. He grew up on the family farm and attended Leon High School.
He met Dorothy Asplund in Coeur d'Alene and later they were married in Kansas City, Missouri. A year later they moved to Moline, Illinois where he attended DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago in 1956 and 57. Shortly thereafter he moved the family to Culver City, California where he continued to work in electronics, at LITTON, until 1969, at which time he established a family business of "Howell's Commercial Gardening and Power Sweeping".
In 1982, they sold the business and family home, and bought a 35 foot 5th wheel trailer and he and Dorothy traveled the U.S. and Canada for 9 years. They reestablished a permanent home in Coeur d'Alene. Bob enjoyed gardening and many friends. They attended the Church of the Nazarene in Coeur d'Alene.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Howell; son Ronald and brother Richard of Chico, California.
Bob is survived by wife, Dorothy at home; son Gail of Leon, Iowa; son Roger of North Hills, California; daughter Julie Salazar.
Memorial service will be held Saturday April 12, 2014 at 11am at Coeur d'Alene Church of the Nazarene 4000 N 4th Street, Coeur d'Alene. Memorials can be sent to North Idaho Cancer Center % Kootenai Medical Center Foundation 2003 Lincoln Way, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83814.
