Dale Houck was born Nov. 19, 1932 in Leon, Iowa. He moved with his family to Oakland [CA] at the age of 12. Dale met his bride in 1950 and they were married later that same year.

Dale and Phyllis lived and raised their family in the Greater Bay Area. He worked for Valley Sheet Metal and worked on several large projects throughout the Bay including the Sutro Tower, Japanese Trade Center and the BART tunnel under the bay.

Dale was an avid square dance caller and carved full-size carousel horses, mandolins and a violin. In addition, he retrofitted and restored clarinets and donated them to Willis Jepson Middle School music department.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis; daughters, Laura and her husband, Eric Jansen of Vacaville and Cindy Houck-Lewis of Vacaville and son-in-law Edward Lewis of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Tracee, Todd, Katie and Adena; great-grandchildren, Drakyn, Emily, Cody and Paige.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate and honor Dale's life. Condolences can be left for the family at www.bryanbraker.com. Memorial contributions in Dale's memory can be made to St. Jude. Arrangements handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home of Vacaville, 707-448-4900.
