Ardath David Hall, age 89 of Leon, Iowa, was born to Henry David and Margaret Ann (Dillon) Hall on July 1, 1924, at the family farm west of Van Wert, Iowa. He passed away peacefully at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Decatur, Iowa on February 19, 2014, with family by his side.

He was united in marriage to Nadene Stanford on January 16, 1943, and to this union they were blessed with three daughters and one son, Sondra, Dianna, Pam, and Jimmy.

Ardie attended school at the Elm Grove Country School. When he was 16, Ardie went to Washington State to pick tomatoes. He farmed with his father for many years. He was also a mechanic for Clair Kelly until he opened his own business, Ardie's Place, in Leon until he retired in 1982. After retiring, he helped his daughters with their restaurant.

When he was younger, Ardie played guitar in his band at the VFW in Chariton, Iowa. He enjoyed taking Sunday drives with Nadene, going to the casino, attending auctions, and meeting new people; he knew no stranger. He and Nadene loved sitting in the store parking lots waiting for friends to stop and visit "the candy man". Ardie was well known for his jokes, stories, and the saying "Don't be stickin' any beans up your nose".

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 63 years, Nadene; son Jimmy Hall; mother-in-law Beulah Hatfield and father-in-law Ralph Stanford; brothers, Albert Hall and wife Violet and Cloyd Hall and wife Elvina; sisters, Cloma Cory and husband Homer, Charlotte Fesler and husband Orville, Pansa Johnson and husband Leonard, Verlene Lehman, Eula West and husband Gerald, Audrey Beer and husband Rudy, and Pauline Seuferer and husband Ordie; sisters-in-law, Margaret Davis, Barbara Binning, and Margaret Stanford; and brothers-in-law, Billie Stanford, Walker Davis, Kenneth Davenport, Clair Kelly, and Gordon Binning.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 2 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 with Rev. Terry D. Roberts officiating. Burial is in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the Family.
