Obituary ~ John A. Gore
January 05, 1868 ~ August 23, 1942

John A. Gore, son of Irwin Gore and Francis America Toney, was born in Decatur county January 5, 1868, and passed away at the home of his son in Davis City Sunday evening August 23, 1942 at the age of 76 years 7 months and 18 days.

He grew to manhood and was a farmer spending practically his entire life in Decatur county. He was married to Annie Ordway of Davis City and to this union one son was born, Charles now residing in Davis City and with whom Mr. Gore made his home. To a later union with Nancie Riggs two daughters were born. Mrs. Gertie Hamilton of Leon, who was with her father at the time of his passing, and Mrs. Ivy Mundell of Los Angeles, California. He was afterward united in marriage with Mollie Butcher of Davis City, and two children blessed this union, Gory Gore, now deceased, and Mrs. Dollie Ellars of Norfolk, Virginia.

Those near him who survive are his children mentioned above, two sister, Mrs. Ella Allen and Mrs. Eddie Brenizer of Lamoni, grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service conducted by Rev. Miles Taber of the Leon Brethren church, were held Tuesday at two o'clock p.m. in the Slade Funeral home. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery.
