William Penn Gittinger passed away Jan. 28, 1931 at Leon, Iowa. He was 66 years old.

William was the son of Daniel Reese and Sarah Elizabeth Gittinger and was born April 20, 1865, on the old Gittinger homestead in Center township, Decatur county, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Orra Elma Frost, Jan. 27, 1892. To them were born eight children. Alice M., Daniel Reese, Lloyd F., Ellen, Florence Bell, Mary Grace, Pearl Elizabeth and Marjorie Maxine, who with their mother are left to mourn his loss. He also had three grandchildren, Shirley, Ruth and Kathryn Marjorie McKee of Des Moines and Ellen Joyce Gittinger of Kellogg, Idaho; one brother Frank M. Gittinger of Leon and one sister Mrs. Emma Field, of Noosho Falls, Kansas as well as several nephews and nieces, and many other relatives and friends who will mourn because of his departure.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and five sisters and two brothers.

He spent his entire life in Decatur county, with the exception of a few years which were spent in eastern Nebraska.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 31, 1931, in the Stewart Funeral Home by Rev Miles H. Tabor. Interment was in the Leon cemetery.
