Alice Florence [McLain] Fairchild, daughter of George and Emily McLain, was born March 8, 1893 in Mercer, Mo. and died Oct. 8 1981 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa, age 88 years and 7 months.

She lived most of her life in Decatur County. She spent the last year of her life in Westview Acres.

Alice was united in marriage to William Harrison Fairchild April 29, 1909. To this union eight children were born.

Preceding her in death were husband William Fairchild; two daughters; Francis Fairchild and Maggie King; son, Leo Fairchild; great grandsons and a granddaughter; and 2 brothers.

She is survived by five children: Leona Turpin and husband of Davis City; Minnie Mitchell and husband, Boone, Iowa; Louise Decker and husband, Chariton, Iowa; Lester Fairchild and wife, Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Harold Fairchild and wife, Lancaster, Calif.; grandchildren; great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
