Obituary ~ Billie Lee "Bill" Boswell
February 18, 1931 ~ May 21, 2016Billie Lee Boswell, age 85, of Davis City, Iowa, the son of John Alfred and Iva Belle (Rhodes) Boswell, was born February 18, 1931, at Lone Tree, Iowa. He left this life on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.
Bill graduated from Lamoni High School in Lamoni, Iowa in 1949. He joined the United States Air Force on September 17, 1951. After his honorable discharge on August 6, 1953, Bill was married and father to a daughter, Patti.
On August 3, 1957, he married Patricia Jane Daughton. They were blessed with four children, Julie Kay, Ronald Jay, Mary Jane, and Andrew Wade. The family lived in the Davis City, Iowa area.
Bill owned and operated the Chevrolet garage and dealership in Leon in the 1970’s. During his adult life, he sold different insurances and was into other agricultural sales, but his true calling was farming and he did so his entire life. He loved operating all the equipment and working outside. He always had a dog and enjoyed the company of animals. He was quite proud of the fact that he owned a few shares of stock in the Green Bay Packers football team. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Pat; daughters, Julie Kay and Patti Ann; parents-in-law, Jim and Vera Daughton; and brother-in-law, Tom Waller.
Survivors include his children, Ronnie and Corby Boswell of Leon, Iowa, Mary Jane Applegate and fiance, Kevin Hunt of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Andy and Dena Boswell of Davis City, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Paul, Melissa, Kyle & Ashley, Colter, Trent, Brodi & Tanner, Hayes, Madison, and Brock; two great grandchildren, M.J. and Benson; brother, Eldon and Marilyn Boswell of Aledo, Illinois; sister, Claribelle Waller of Port Orange, Florida; special friend, Judy Eakes of Davis City and her family; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016. Burial will be in the Davis City Cemetery, Davis City, Iowa.
Memorials may be given to the Davis City Community Center in Bill’s memory.
