Decatur County Journal
August 27, l9l4

MARY ANN BERRY, daughter of JOHN and LYDIA
ANN BERRY, was born November
l9, l83l, at Georgetown, Brown County, Ohio,
where she lived during
childhood. They then moved to Cincinnati,
Ohio, and later moving to
Newton, Ohio, where she was united in
marriage to JOHN HENRY JOBST VOGT,
December ll, l856.

She and her husband came to Decatur County,
Iowa, where they located on
a farm in Woodland Township, where they lived
until l877, when they
moved to Leon. To this union were born five
children, namely: MRS.
LOUISA CHAMBERS, LYDIA MARIE, who died in
infancy, HENRIETTA, HARRY, and
MRS. CHARLOTTE BOWSHER.

MARY ANN VOGT was baptized into the M.E.
Church at Armstrong Chapel in
Hamilton County, Ohio and was an active
member until she removed to
Iowa. There being no church here at that
time, she investigated
spiritualism and became convinced of spirit
communion and has remained a
firm believer in the faith until her spirit
departed the body.

Besides the children who are left to mourn
her going, she has one
surviving sister, MRS. MARIE HOLLADAY, of
Leon, and many old friends who
share in their sorrow.
