February 17, 1900 ~ October 15, 1985

IVAN FRANK MENDENHALL, son of ISAAC FRANKLIN and IDA BELLE BURNS MENDENHALL, was born in High Point, Iowa on Feb. 17, 1900 and died Oct. 15, 1985 at his home in Corydon, Iowa, aged 85 years, 7 months and 26 days. He was born and raised on the farm that his ancestors bought form the government, which is still in the MENDENHALL family.

IVAN enlisted in the United States Army at age 17 during World War I, taking Officers Training School at Ames, Iowa. After his mother’s death, he remained in the family home and cared for his family.

He was united in marriage Dec. 9, to KATHRYN ESTHER DENNIS. To his union were born 4 children. IVAN and KATHRYN celebrated their 50th, wedding anniversary with an open house in December 1985. He and his family owned and operated a grocery store in High Point and Garden Grove, Iowa.

IVAN was baptized into the R. L. D. S. Church in December, 1969. He was ordained to the office of Priest Nov. 27, 1977. He remained an active member as long as his health permitted. He was also a charter member of Point-Le-Grove American Legion Post # 450.

Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son, GARY DENNIS; sister, NEVA PARSONS; and 2 brothers; ILO and NILE MENDENHALL.

He is survived by his widow, KATHRYN; two sons; FRANK and wife, NANCY, Pea Ridge, Ar. and JON and wife, LINDA, Denver, Co.; daughter, NORMA DECKER and husband, ANDY, Corydon; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at High Point Cemetery.]
