Obituary ~ Dee Leon Hunsaker
August 02, 1920 ~ December 21, 2001

Dee Leon Hunsaker, 81, of Mount Ayr, son of Luther D. and Iwa Dell Wybrew Hunsaker, was born Aug. 2, 1920, at Skofield, Utah and died Dec. 21, 2001, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Mr. Hunsaker served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After he was discharged he went back to Utah where he worked in a coal mine. Later he began driving truck.

In the early 1970s he married Sally Ann Hill. She had two children Lysa and Mike who lived with them.

Mr. Hunsaker was an excellent bowler and pool player. He liked hunting and doing paint-by-number pictures. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in California.

He was a fifth generation Latter Day Saints Church member. Mr.Hunsaker was a simple man without many wants.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include is wife, Sally Hunsaker of Mount Ayr; three stepchildren, Lysa Ward and her husband Mike Ward, of Grand River, John Hill and his wife, Mary Paul, of South Burlington, Vt. and Mike Owens of Phoenix, Ariz; five stepgrandchildren; a sister, Gwen Papadakis of Lake Elisnor, Calif.; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hunsaker were Dec. 26 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, the Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiating.

Casket bearers were Jesse Henrichs, Matt Henrichs, Jeff Ward, Wayne Barnes, Mike Marshall and Ron Brown. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton.
