Leon, Decatur County, IowaMAUD HAMILTON was born Jan. 30, 1883 at Millegeville, Ohio, the eldest daughter of JAMES H. and CAROLIN HILL STOVER. As a small child, she moved to Iowa where she grew to womanhood. She taught in Decatur County schools eleven years.
She was married March 5, 1927 at Miles City, Mn. to ARCHIBALD J. HAMILTON, former resident of Decatur County. She raised his small daughter, MARGUERITE. Mrs. HAMILTON lived in Glinedive, Mn. Over 50 years, before moving in May 1979 to Seqim, Wa. to be near her stepdaughter and family.
She is survived by MARGUERITE and LUKE DUNKERLEY of Sequim, Wa.; KAY (Mrs. JON MAGNUSSEM, Redmond, Ma.; three sisters-in-law, including DELANA STOVER of Leon; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and four sisters.
As a young woman, she was baptized by evangelist BILLY SUNDAY and began a lifelong commitment to the Methodist Church. She was the recipient of a lifetime membership in Yellowstone Chapter No. 5, Glendive. Order of the Eastern Star, having joined the OES in Leon in 1916.
[Interment was made at Dawson County Cemetery, Glendive, Montana.]
