Thelma Roe Hacker, daughter of Oldie and Effie Owens Roe was born Jan. 15, 1912, in Decatur County and died March 19, 2003, at a care facility in Buffalo, Mo. She was 91.

She spent her youth in Decatur County and attended school in Le Roy. She married John Pitman Hacker on March 19, 1932, and they became the parents of two daughters, Kay Marie and Karen Mae.

Mrs. Hacker lived in Clarke and Decatur counties until May 2002 when she moved to Colonial Springs Care and Rehab Center in Buffalo. She made many friends while she was at the center.

Mrs. Hacker attended Symrna Friends Church near Weldon. She made and decorated wedding cakes professionally. She was very creative. Mrs. Hacker loved gardening and attending various clubs where she was a member. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her delight.

She was preceded in death by her parents; several infant siblings; grandson, Joseph McCullough; three brothers, Tom, James and Robert Roe; three sisters-in-law Audrey, Marie and Leone Roe; and her husband.

Mrs. Roe is survived by her two daughters, Kay Gegner and her husband, Larry Gegner, of Buffalo, Mo. and Karen McCullough and Louis McCullough of Osceola; eight grandchildren, Lori Sand of Kansas City, Mo., Michelle Lehr of Buffalo, Mo., Brian Gegner of Norwalk, Lisa Gegner of Victor, N.Y., John McCullough of Castle Rock, Colo., Mike McCullough of O’Fallon, Mo., Kelly Blanchard of Osceola and Rachel McCullough of San Diego, Calif. and 12 great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated. A memorial service for Mrs. Hacker will be held at 1 p.m. on April 5 at the First Baptist Church (by the Clarke County Hospital) in Osceola.
