ZORA GLAZEBROOK DIES

Zora E. Glazebrook, 93, of Afton, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 1989 at the Afton Care Center in Afton. She had been a former resident of Murray.

She was born March 9, 1894 in Ringgold County, the daughter of James Wesley and Emma (Lawrence) Glazebrook. She grew up in Decatur County and taught rural school in Decatur, Ringgold and Clarke counties for many years. She worked at the arsenal in Des Moines during World War II and was a house mother at a girls training school in Mitchellville for 16 years. After her retirement in 1964, she returned to Murray to stay with her mother until her death in 1966. Miss Glazebrook then moved to Afton.

She was a member of the Murray Methodist Church.

Miss Glazebrook is survived by three brothers, Clyde and wife, Beulah of Weldon, Archie and wife Dorcas of Waterloo, and Floyd and wife Ethel Glazebrook of La Crescenta, Calif.; four sisters, Edna Burchett of Afton, Maggie Musselman of Elkhart, Iowa, Ruby and husband Lowell Adams of Murray, and Sylvia Brammer of Barnsville, Minn.; and two sisters-in-law, Vera Glazebrook of Grnad River and Muriel Glazebrook of Dexter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at the Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home in Murray with Rev. Chuck White officiating. Burial was at the Murray Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Afton Care Center.
