Osceola, Clarke County, IowaHoward Lyle Scott, age 67 of Osceola, Iowa, was the only child born to Everett Howard "Eddie" and Grace Pauline Morgan Scott on May 5, 1945 at the Leon Hospital in Leon, Iowa.
He died April 29, 2013 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Howard was raised in Garden Grove, Iowa in the same house throughout childhood. He went to Mormon Trail Schools in Garden Grove and graduated from the Class of 1963. In February of 1964 he joined the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Cimarron Ship in San Diego, California. He served on the USS Midway Ship overseas during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in February 1968.
When he returned to Iowa, Howard began working for the Osceola Police Department as a police officer for a short time and then began as a dispatcher for the Sheriff's Office and Clarke County. Howard also worked at Simco in Osceola. A few years later, Howard joined the Courthouse as a Custodian and Maintenance worker. He enjoyed meeting people and telling stories there. Howard retired after 33 years of service to Clarke County.
Howard married Connie Wolfe on May 14, 1976 at the Garden Grove Methodist Church. They made their home in Osceola and became the parents of two daughters, Jacqueline Faye and Jodie Marie. Howard enjoyed playing softball with the girls, fishing, shooting hoops in the driveway, and going on vacations. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, sports, Westerns, Elvis movies, and retro shows.
Preceding Howard in death were his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Raymond and Faye Wolfe; brother-in-law Jerald Cornelison; grandparents; aunts and uncles.
Survivors are wife Connie Scott of Osceola; daughter Jackie Galloway and husband Rich of Des Moines, Iowa, with grandsons Nathan and Joey; daughter Jodie Lusk of Waukee, Iowa, with granddaughters Amber and Abby Lusk; sister-in-law Betty Cornelison of Waukee; and other relatives and friends.
Interment was made at Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.
