Obituary ~ Ralph Phipps
April 28, 1893 ~ October 24, 1985

RALPH PHIPPS, eldest of four children, was born to JAMES H. and ESTELLA (STANLEY) PHIPPS on April 28, 1893 near Decatur, Iowa and died at the Decatur County Hospital, in Leon, Iowa on Oct. 24, 1985, age 92 years, 5 months and 24 days.

He grew up on the farm and was married to LULU M. BRIGHT on Jan. 29, 1916. He farmed in Decatur County for 14 years and moved to Blythedale, Mo. and farmed there until 1942, at which time he purchased and took over the operation of a motel in Eagleville, Mo., retiring from that business in 1968. At that time, he and LULU moved to Bethany, Mo. and in 1971 returned to Leon, Iowa for the remainder of his retirement years.

RALPH was a member of the Leon Brethren Church; Masonic Lodge; and the Eastern Star, for over 60 years.

He was preceded in death by two sisters; MAUDE ASPLUND and GARLAND GARNETT.

Survivors are his widow, LULA of Leon, Iowa; sister JUANITA WOODS, Citrus Heights, Ca.; niece, VIRGINIA THOMPSON, San Carlos, Ca.; three nephews; PAUL DECK, Green Valley, Az., LARRY WOOD, Rocklin, Cal., JAMES WOOD, Citrus Heights, Ca.; other relatives and friends.
