Walter K. Metz, son of James and Sarah Metz, was born on July 22, 1881 in Wayne County and passed away on March 8, 1976 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton, at the age of 94 years, seven months and fifteen days.
He was a retired Mercer County, Missouri farmer, moving to Chariton in 1960. For the last three years he has made his home at Chariton Manor.
He was proceded in death by his parents, four brothers, his wife Ellen and daughter Arlene.
He is survived by five children Wesley Kenneth Metz, of Centerville, Harold A. Metz of Chariton, Mrs. Lawrence (Lorene) Johnson of Mystic, Mrs. Warren (Maisel) Dachenbach and Billie Holder of Chariton, nineteen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Elder George Jardine, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Garden Grove Cemetery.
