January 10, 1945 ~ February 22, 2015Sidney Allen Fenton, age 70, of Garden Grove, Iowa, the son of Berl Otis and Viola (Conklin) Fenton, was born January 10, 1945 at Ellston, Iowa. He died at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa on Sunday, February 23, 2015.
Sid attended school in Ellston, Tingley, and Osceola, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from May 12, 1967, until August 10, 1971, as a refrigeration specialist. Following his honorable discharge, he started working at Clarke Electric in Osceola. He retired in 1994 due to health reasons.
Sid was first married to Linda Phillips in 1967. They were blessed with two sons, Tracy and Stacy. They later divorced and he remarried Diane Lucille Ball on May 8, 1982, in Lexington, Missouri. Sid adopted Diane's two sons, Shawn and Tim.
In his free time, Sid enjoyed watching drag racing, fishing, and doing carpentry and electrical work. He was a member of Point LeGrove American Legion #450. He also served on Garden Grove City Council and as a volunteer fireman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Priscilla Hull; and brother, Berl "Sonny" Fenton. He is survived by his wife, Diane Fenton, of Garden Grove; sons, Tracy Fenton and wife Lisa of Creston, Iowa, Stacy Fenton of Osceola, Shawn Fenton of Albia, Iowa, and Tim Fenton of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Karen Williams and husband George of Woodburn, Iowa; sister-in-law, Janet Pearl "J.P." Fenton of Woodburn; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were through the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa.
