Obituary ~ Joseph Arthur "Artie" Daniel
December 03, 1880 ~ April 09, 1893

A shocking accident occurred on Sunday, which has caused a gloom of sadness in the community. Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Daniels (sic) met his death by drowning. It seems he went to the reservoir south of town with other boys to fish, and remained after the others had gone home. Toward evening his parents became anxious about his absence and diligent search was made, including the locality of the reservoir.

Finally, his cap and fish pole was discovered on the water, which unfolded the sad tale. In a short time the body was brought out and conveyed home. It is a sad blow on the parents and family and should be a lesson to all to restrain their children from getting into dangerous places without due protection.

Artie was 13 years old and was a favorite among boys of his age. The remains were buried [Garden Grove Cemetery] from the residence on Tuesday, Rev. Robert Beer officiating. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community.
