Obituary ~ Frances Leola (Wade) Ellis
November 01, 1917 ~ January 26, 2015

Frances Leola Wade Ellis was born the fourth daughter of John Wesley and Audie Leticia (Gregory) Wade. She was born November 1, 1917 in Clarke County. She died January 26, 2015 in Indianola, Iowa

She attended Hebron and Weldon schools. She graduated in 1936 from Weldon High School. On December 23, 1936, Frances married Archie Thomas (Tommy) Ellis, in Indianola, Iowa. They were blessed with one daughter, Wanda and two sons, Ronald and Steven. Frances was a wife, mother, and homemaker for her family also a grandmother to seven and a great grandmother to thirteen and a great great grandmother to eight. She lived on the Weldon mail route 65 years until her husband's death in 1982, when she moved to Indianola. She enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables as well as raising chickens.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Tommy on March 5, 1982; son Steven Thomas Ellis; great grandson Ross Graham; sisters Helen Woods, Marie VanScoy, Nora Hein and Georgia Wade.

Survivors include her daughter Wanda (husband Edward) Hockensmith of Berthoud, Colorado, son Ronald (wife Jane) Ellis of Indianola, grandchildren; Jayne Hockensmith of Berthoud, CO, Eddie (wife Karol) Hockensmith of Drake, CO, Danny (wife Shireen) Hockensmith of Berthoud, CO, E'Lynn Olsen of Des Moines, Boyd (wife Julie) Ellis of Germantown, Tennessee, Kara (husband David) Mitchell of Seymour, Iowa and Tyler Ellis of San Juan Bautista, California. Great grandchildren Ryan (wife Stephanie Wodylak) Graham, Colorado, Sarah Hockensmith and fiancé Matt Kilroy, Colorado, Nolan Hockensmith, Colorado, Emma (husband TJ) Hollinden, Kentucky, Elizabeth Olsen, Des Moines, Madellin Ellis, Quinton Ellis, Germantown, Tennessee, Paige Mitchell, Logan Mitchell, Lucas Mitchell, Gabrielle Mitchell, Seymour, Iowa, and step great granddaughter Tabitha (husband Tim) Pierson, Colorado. Great great grandchildren Ashlyn Hockensmith, Lilley Graham, Hailey Wodylak, Savannah Hockensmith, Carter Hollinden, Kyson Hollinden, Carley Pierson, Leif Pierson, one sister Dorothy Mason, of Oklahoma, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be directed to HCI Care Services of Pella, Iowa or Weldon Christian Church. Memorial services were conducted at 11:00 AM at Kale Funeral Home, Osceola, Iowa. Interment was made at Maple Hill Cemetery, Ridge Road, Osceola, Iowa. Kale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
