Obituary ~ Benjamin Franklin "Ben" Ellars
May 22, 1914 ~ January 11, 1983

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (BEN) ELLARS, youngest son of PETE and ETTA SHAFFNER ELLARS, was born May 22, 1914 in Terre Haute, Burrell Township in Decatur County, Iowa and died Jan. 11, 1983 at his home in Leon, Iowa, age 68.

BEN grew up in the Terre Haute area and attended school through the 8th grade. He worked as a farm hand most of his life and had been making his home at the MCKERN residence 9 years.

When health permitted he attended the Assembly of God Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister EVALINE, (CLEVE) ELLARS AKERS; brother ORESTES (RESS) ELLARS; two infant brothers; and an infant sister.

Survivors include: brother, CLARENCE ELLARS and wife OPAL, Leon; sisters: NELLIE GRAVES, Leon; RUTH CRESS, Beaconsfield, Iowa; PEARL NORMAN and husband, VIRGIL, Lowell, Iowa; and BESSIE REYNOLDS, Clarence, Mo.; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Terre Haute Cemetery.]
