Obituary ~ Julia (Hughes) Cox
November 26, 1898 ~ January 23, 1978

JULIA COX, youngest daughter of THOMAS T. and MARY (JONES) HUGHES, was born Nov. 26, 1898 in Iowa County, near Williamsburg, and died Jan. 23, 1978 in Leon, Iowa, age 79 years, 1 month, and 28 days.

She was married to LLOYD R. COX March 12, 1924 in Decatur County, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born. JULIA and LLOYD celebrated their 50th, wedding anniversary in 1974.

She spent most of her life near Leon, although they lived in Ames, Iowa; Wheeling, Ill.; Lakeview, Iowa; and Osceola, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were husband LLOYD; parents; two brothers, PHILLIP and ALBERT HUGHES; sister RUTH LEWIS; two grandsons, JACK LLOYD KING and MARK STEPHEN JOHNS.

Survivors include daughters, MILDRED JAY and husband WAYNE, and their children, DAVID, JAMIE, VERNETTA, WENDELL, STEVEN and MIKE; MARY KING and children DAN, JOE, NANCY, JERRY, RANDY, SANDRA and BUTCH; FLORENCE ROBERTS and children MARY SUE and DEAN; sisters ANNA MERILL and MAE TAYLOR, Des Moines; 16 great grandchildren: KOBY and T.J. KING; SHELLY, J. B. and KEVIN KING; JEREMY and ROBERT STEVENS; SONYA, SCOTTY and JASON KING; GONYA UTTON; JACK KING II; MELISSA and DOUGLAS HAMMOND; MATHEW and DANNY JOHNS; other relatives and friends.
