Obituary ~ Evelyn "Darlene" (Muselman) Mooberry
August 14, 1920 ~ December 01, 2014

Evelyn Darlene Mooberry was born August 14, 1920 in Truro, Iowa the daughter of Ralph Isaiah Muselman and Carrie Mae (Sinn) Muselman.

Darlene was raised in the Truro area and graduated from Truro High School. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Following the completion of her studies, Darlene taught country school for a few years. On August 30, 1940 she was united in marriage to Merryll Harvey Mooberry in Princeton, Missouri. The couple lived on a farm east of Osceola until 1947 when Meryll received the call to ministry and they moved to Texas. They both attended Southwestern Bible Institute in Waxahachie, Texas and became licensed Clergy. They pastored three different churches in Texas over a period of ten years before returning to Iowa. Merryll and Darlene then moved to Grand River, Iowa to pastor a church. In 1964 they moved to Knoxville, with Meryll as the Pastor of the First Assembly Of God Church until their retirement.

Darlene taught piano lessons to a multitude of pupils from 1957 to present day. She also served as the organist for the Knoxville V.A. Chapel and the administrative assistant to the Chaplains from 1993 until its closing. Additionally, Darlene was the secretary for the Friends of the Knoxville Public Library for many years and actively volunteered at Helping Hands. She also authored a daily e-mail, “Darlene’s Daily Inspiration” with over a hundred followers. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a past recipient of the “Yard of the Month” award. She was also an avid reader, painter and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She had fond memories of mission trips to Jamaica, Guatemala, Ecuador, and other countries in need of help. Darlene experienced growth spiritually and mentally her entire life. She was never afraid to try something new, whether it was volunteering, learning new technology or any other challenge that presented itself.

Darlene passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at her home, at the age of 94 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a stillborn brother, and a nephew.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Marilyn Sears of Sumter, South Carolina: her son, Duane Mooberry of Byron, Illinois; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; half-brother, Randall Muselman of Trenton Missouri; and many other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Darlene's Life was held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Knoxville, Iowa, with Pastors Rick Smith and Bob Smith officiating. Musical Selections included "How Great Thou Art." Interment was made at Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Iowa.

The family invited relatives and friends to the First Baptist Church for lunch following the committal service.
