Obituary ~ Ruth Viola Barrett
May 18, 1906 ~ September 16, 1983

RUTH VIOLA BARRETT, daughter of JOHN HARVEY BARRETT and MILLIE VILENNA (COZARD) BARRETT, was born May 18, 1906 in Eden Township, Decatur County, Iowa. She passed away Sept. 16, 1983 at her home in Leon.

RUTH graduated from Leon High School with the class of 1924. She attended and graduated from the Cedar Falls Teaching College. RUTH taught rural schools and in Afton, Grand River, Grinnell, Knoxville, Atlantic and Clarinda.

In 1962 she left her teaching career to come back to Leon to care for her aged parents.

She was a member of Chapter W, P. E. O., Sorosis Club, Harmony Club, Thursday morning Bridge Club. She was affiliated with Loving Chapel United Methodist Church, Leon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

She is survived by several cousins and many friends.

[Interment was made in Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.]
