Obituary ~ Allen S. Ballard
October 02, 1898 ~ March 09, 1979

ALLEN S. BALLARD was born in Indiana, August 31, ----. Died in Ft. Scott, Kansas at 6:10 Tuesday, January 28, 1890, at the house of his daughter, after an illness of long difficulties. Mr. BALLARD survived the Mexican war. He came to Iowa in 1853, and for 30 years was a resident of Mt. Pleasant. The past four yours he had a respected citizen of Leon, being employed as tinner with the firm of Gould Wallace & Co. On account of failing heath he went to Ft. Scott, Kansas, last Christmas, accompanied by his wife and daughter. After his death the body was embalmed to await the arrival of his s - -- JOSEPH, from Poccotella, Idaho, but failed to reach Ft. Scott, being snow bound in the Rocky Mountains.

Mr. BALLARD’S body was taken to Mr. Pleasant, Iowa, for interment, which took place last Sunday. His estimable wife and f--- children who survive him, have the condolences of many friends here and e--- where, in this sad hour of bereavement.
