Decatur County Journal
June 25, l9l4

POLLY ANN NICKERSON, daughter of ALEXANDER
and ELIZABETH NICKERSON, was
born June l, l825, and died June 22, l9l4, at
the home of her daughter,
MRS. THOMAS WEBSTER, in Woodland Township,
being 89 years and 22 days
old.

She was united in marriage to G.W. CLARK,
August 8, l843. To this union
were born nine children: ALEXANDER M. CLARK,
who died while in the
service of the Civil War; MARY E. DORSEY, who
died a few years ago at
the home of her sons in High Point Township;
DEBRO ROCRAFT, departed her
life several years ago at Portland, Oregon;
MARTHA CLARK at the age of
sixteen; THOMAS C. CLARK, residing at
Ridgefield, Washington; MRS. ORE
BROWN living at Cottage Grove, Oregon; G.W.
CLARK at Mt. Vernon, Mo.;
MRS. THOMAS WEBSTER of near Leon; MYRON H.,
of Ridgefield.

She was converted when a girl and united with
the Baptist Church until
she moved to Leon when she united with the
Methodist Episcopal Church of
which she has been a faithful member. Her
home has been at Leon for a
number of years where she has earned herself
many warm friends. Grandma
was loved by all her acquaintances. She was
a true friend and was
always found ready to do her part at any
time. Her last suffering was
short, death being caused by acute pneumonia,
although she had been
failing for years. She was a good woman and
richly deseves the reward
to which she has gone.
Our people extend to the bereaved relatives
sincerest sympathy.

The funeral services were held at the
residence of MR. and MRS. THOMAS
WEBSTER, on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock,
conducted by Rev. G.J.
Fansher, Pastor of the Leon M.E. Church.
Interment was in the Chastain
Cemetery.
