KICK OF HORSE PROVES FATAL
----------------------------
Aged Livery Stable Owner Here in Business More Than 50 Years.
----------------------------
DAVID NELSON KING, 81, long time livery stable owner here, died last night
of injuries received Thursday morning when he apparently was kicked while
doctoring a horse in his stable on North Campbell Avenue.

Details of the accident were vague as he lapsed into unconsciousness shortly
after being found by a neighbor, "Pat" Mitchell. Mitchell came to the
stable for a visit with Mr. King and found him sitting in a chair in the
office. He immediately went for a doctor and Mr. King was taken to a
hospital.

Operator of a livery and feed business for more than 50 years in Springfield
he has been in business at his present location, 1655 North Campbell Avenue
for the past 30 years.

Born and reared near Knoxville, Tenn., he moved with the family to Decatur,
Ill., and later to a farm near Chanute, Kan. From there he came with his
family to Springfield. His first wife, Mrs. Lucinda King, died 23 years ago
Mr. King was a member of the Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amanda, King; one sister, Mrs. Alice Duff
of Blockton, Iowa; two sons, Clyde King of Springfield, an official of the
International Harvester Company; and Raleigh King of St. Louis; a stepson,
Emil Thomas of Los Angeles, and four grandchildren, Weldon King of
Springfield, and Kenneth, Raleigh Jr., and Marjorie King of St. Louis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the J.W. Klingner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W.L. Perryman, Pastor of the Campbell Street Methodist Church, officiating.
