Mrs. D.N. King, aged fifty-six years, died of paralysis at 7:30 o'clock last
evening at her home at 330 West Locust Street. She was seemingly as well as
usual all day Monday and until about ten o'clock when she was stricken with
paralysis and gradually failed until death came.The deceased had lived here twenty-five years, and was well known by all the
older Springfield citizens. Besides her husband, who conducts a livery
stable at North Campbell Street, she is survived by tow sons -- R.A. King,
a conductor on the Frisco with headquarters at St. Louis, and Clyde King, a
member of the Northside Fire Department, Company No. 2.A brother, Jack Weldon of Neodesha, Kan., and a sister, Mrs. J.B. Longfellow
of Oklahoma City, Okla., arrived here last night to attend the funeral
services, which will be held at the family home at two o'clock this
afternoon. The services will be in charge of Rev. W.E. Sullens, Pastor of
the Campbell Street M.E. Church, South, and interment will be in Hazelwood
Cemetery.Mrs. King was born in Leon, Ia., March 25, 1854, and moved with her parents to Kansas when a young girl. She was married to Mr. King at Chanute, Kan., October 7, 1875, and lived there until 1884, when they moved to Springfield. She was a prominent church worker, having been a member of the Campbell Street M.E. Church, South, for several years.
